Dr. Janet Casey

Janet R. Casey, MD is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.  Dr. Casey received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University followed by her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She completed her postgraduate pediatric residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Duke University with emphasis in infectious diseases of the immunocompromised host. Dr. Casey is the owner of Legacy Pediatrics where she practices primary care and as a sub specialist consultant.  Dr. Casey heads up the research team at Legacy Pediatrics where she has acted as the Principal Investigator for many research grants and continues to partner with other researchers across the country. She has published numerous articles and chapters on ambulatory pediatric infectious disease topics.  Her major practice and research interests are in otitis media, streptococcal infections, lower respiratory infections, and vaccine development.  She has two grown children (along with three fur children) and lives in Pittsford with her husband, Dr. Kevin Casey.

Dominique J. Bandari, M.D. is thrilled to be a part of Legacy Pediatrics. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, she received her undergraduate degree from Rice University on a tennis scholarship. She then attended the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, earning a Masters of Health Science in International Health. Dr. Bandari completed medical school at the University of Toronto, followed by a Pediatrics Residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She has presented at national conferences and published articles in multiple peer reviewed journals involving newborn care, 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, perioperative complications, and public policy.

Prior to Legacy Pediatrics, she worked as a Primary Care Pediatrician and Nursery Hospitalist in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bandari is passionate about giving every child a healthy start to life, and understands the importance of caring for both the physical and mental well-being of her patients.

Dr. Bandari is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Polish. She is delighted to finally settle down in Brighton with her husband, Dr. Jathin Bandari, and son, Nayan.

Dr. Jennifer Silverstein grew up in Rochester, NY, and is excited to be joining the amazing team at Legacy Pediatrics. She completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University and earned a Bachelor of Science in human biology health and society with a minor in global health. She attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school. She returned to Rochester to complete her pediatric residency and chief year at the University of Rochester – Golisano Children’s Hospital. Prior to starting at Legacy, she completed additional training in pediatric nephrology at the University of Rochester. She is board certified in Pediatrics.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), Dr. Silverstein received specialized training in Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), which involves using hands-on techniques to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. She is passionate about providing holistic and evidence-based care for all her patients.

Kate D. Shand, PA-C, IBCLC has been a PA for close to 20 years in primary care. Besides seeing patients for acute visits and physicals, she also serves as our lactation consultant, helping moms and babies in those first few weeks after birth with breastfeeding help/questions.  She also serves on the medical advisor board for babycenter.com. She is a Clinical Instructor for the PA Program at Rochester Institute of Technology. She received her degree from RIT in 2004 graduating Summa Cum Laude (highest honors). During her training, she completed multiple rotations including orthopedics, surgery, OB/GYN, neonatal ICU training, pediatrics, internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and inpatient medicine. She has worked in both family medicine and internal medicine prior to joining our group. Kate D. Shand, PA-C, IBCLC is board certified with the National Commission on Certification of PAs and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for PAs in Pediatrics, the American Academy of PAs, the New York State Society of PAs, and the Rochester Regional PA Association. She is married to Ryan Shand and they live in Pittsford with their two sons, Mark and James.
