This is a wellness group (NOT a therapy group!) for people in grades 5-8. Learning how to navigate stress, social situations, school, and building self-esteem is a lot to ask of young people. This group is a place for kids to begin to learn how to identify thoughts and emotions and work through stressful moments. The first class is for caregivers ONLY–this will give you a chance to learn about the group content, discuss some of your concerns about Middle School, and think together about ways to support your kids! Kids only will join the next four classes where we learn about stress (the good and tough kinds!), ways to cope with stress related to academics and school and related to social and peer situations, and how to be a good friend to others…and themselves!

Yoga and ACT Principles to Support Stressed Teens

Dates: 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26 and 11/2

Location: Legacy Pediatrics, 1815 South Clinton Avenue, Suite 360, Rochester, NY 15618

Time: 4:30-5:45pm

Cost: $300

Total participants: 8

Learning how to observe your thoughts and emotions AND not getting tangled up in them is the focus of this wellness group for people 13-17 (This is NOT a therapy group). Through the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and yoga, teenagers will learn about stress (the good kind and tough kind), ways to cope with stressors, identify personal values, and develop strategies for balanced thinking. Yoga will be gentle and no previous experience is expected. Participants are welcome to bring their own yoga mat or borrow one.

Please note the following details:

  • Both groups will be held on the basement level of Legacy Pediatrics and participants must be able to safely climb up and down stairs.
  • The signed Google form must be complete before class begins
  • Payment must be received before class begins. Payment will be made through the HIPAA compliant and secure app “IvyPay” or can be paid in cash. No checks, please
  • Participants will receive a workbook and home practice materials

Legacy Pediatric Hours – Legacy returns to usual hours in September: 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday – Friday with a lunch break 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm.

There are a few Covid updates as we move into Spring and Summer 2023.

The Covid-19 pandemic State of Emergency is being lifted on May 12th. With that change families whose children receive health insurance through Child Health Plus, or any “Option” plan will have to establish eligibility and re-enroll in your health insurance plan.

During the state of emergency, the cost of any covid related care was covered and did not require a copay. After May 12th, the cost of any PCR or antigen testing will now be submitted to your insurance or if you have a high deductible plan and have not met your deductible you will be responsible for the cost.

The FDA and CDC simplified the Covid-19 vaccine schedule. Only the bivalent Covid vaccines will be administered for all doses of the vaccine. The bivalent vaccines cover both the original and the Omicron strains of Covid-19. Any future Covid booster recommendations are not yet known.
We continue to require anyone over 2 years old to wear a mask in the office. There is a lot of illness in the community, and we don’t want anyone getting sick because of a visit to the office.

Thank you for your cooperation with this.

The CDC recommends ALL people ages 6 months and older get the flu shot every season. The flu shot not only protects you and your family, but the weakest in our community (babies, elderly, sickly). With COVID continuing to circulate, adding influenza cases in our community will put another undue strain on our healthcare systems. So please, do your part and get vaccinated!

Flu clinics are now available for scheduling.

Legacy pediatrics is proud to offer video visits to our patients.  This is a convenient way to have appointments with our health care providers to discuss issues where a physical exam is not usually necessary.

Typical video visits with our staff include medication check-ups, contraception discussions, acne consultation, and more.  If you’re not sure if your issue is appropriate for video visit consultation, please call and ask to speak with a nurse.  We also can schedule prenatal meet and greets by video visit if the soon to be parents would rather not come into the office.

Logging in for your video visit is easy.  Simply log into www.doxy.me/legacypeds and you will be in our virtual waiting room.  When your provider is ready for your scheduled appointment, we will see your name in our “waiting room” and connect to you.  PLEASE NOTE:  appointments must be pre-scheduled by the office.  Patients will also be charged a no-show fee for missed video visits, just like in person visits.

Call our office phone number (585-568-8330) during normal business hours to set up your video visit with one of our providers.

Office Hours

Monday – Friday: 8am – 5pm

We are working diligently to separate sick child appointments from well child appointments.  We have separate exam rooms for sick children versus healthy children.  And as always, intense cleaning and airing out of rooms between use will be done.

YOU MUST CALL AHEAD OF TIME TO MAKE THESE APPOINTMENTS. WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING WALK-IN APPOINTMENTS DUE TO THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC.
